About the Trust
and its history

Maharaniadhirani Kam Sundari, the widow of the late Maharajadhiraja Kameshwar Singh (the last Maharaja of Darbhanga), established the Maharajadhiraja Kameshwar Singh Kalyani Foundation (A Public Trust) by a deed of trust (No 5699 of 16 March 1989).
Since its inception in the Mughal period, Darbhanga Raj has been known more as an upholder of the traditions of Indian Culture than as a dynasty. Inspired by the world-view of Mahamahopadhyay Mahesh Thakur, the founder of the dynasty, as well as his worthy successors, Maharaniadhirani Kam Sundari, widow of the late Maharajadhiraja Kameshwar Singh (the last Maharaja of Darbhanga Raj), established the Maharajadhiraja Kameshwar Singh Kalyani Foundation as a Public Trust at Darbhanga (Bihar) in 1989 at her residence, for sustaining the spirit and mission of the Khandavala dynasty even after its end.
There are four regular employees to look after the day-to-day affairs of the M.K.S.Kalyani Foundation; besides, several scholars working in different sectors of India are attached as its Resource Persons.
